Boozhoo, my name is Leah Houska. I am a member of Couchiching First Nation. I grew up in Ranier, Minnesota which was a small town three miles east in International Falls on Rainy Lake. Regardless of many major obstacles, I graduated from Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College in 2015 with my Associate of Arts and Associate of Applied Science in Human Services, while homeless and living in a boarding lodge. I was introduced to Sue Purchase by a mutual friend and I started working with her in September 2020. The work we are doing is very rewarding knowing people are getting supplies need to be safe, such as Narcan in case of an overdose, along with education and other resources. The most rewarding thing is seeing how appreciative people are!
