Anthony Banks

Anthony Banks, PhD, MSW, LICSW (he/him/his) is a tenure-track Assistant Professor and Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker at the University of Minnesota–Duluth’s Department of Social Work. Anthony borrows from feminist and queer theorists and scholars to inform his research focusing on LGBTQIA2S+ populations and their engagement with law enforcement, correctional systems, and gender-affirming healthcare. Anthony has also been a clinical social worker for a number of years, primarily working with LGBTQIA2S+ individuals seeking gender affirming healthcare and couples. In his practice, Anthony prioritizes using person-centered care, sex-positive frameworks, and has experience using TF-CBT, motivational interviewing, strengths-based work, exposure therapy, Gottman couples therapy interventions, and CPT.
