Kathy Hermes

Kathy started working at Harm Reduction Sisters in January 2023. She previously worked for Lutheran Social Service for over 10 years, where she was director of Together for Youth in Duluth, a support group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, two-spirit, and allied youth (LGBTQ+).  The group was a safe space for people aged 14-20 to connect with peers and resources to help them navigate life’s challenges. For her work with Together for Youth, Kathy was named a 2018 "Changemaker" by the Minnesota Women's Press. At Harm Reduction Sisters, Kathy is a program manager, but in describes herself as also a utility worker, office manager and person who assists with HIV testing and syringe services. Of this work, Kathy shares, "It's a privilege to see and learn how people who have been outcast or overlooked by community care for themselves and others."
