Ri joined Harm Reduction Sisters in 2025, bringing over 9 years of experience in human services. Previously, Ri spent 3 years as a Peer Recovery Specialist with the Substance Use Response Team, a peer-run deflection program embedded within the Duluth Police Department. In this role, she provided low-barrier, no-cost rapid testing for HIV, Hepatitis C, and Syphilis to individuals in various settings including incarceration facilities, withdrawal management centers, the local library, and in homes.
With experience supporting individuals impacted by the criminal justice system, people who use drugs, youth, and employment services, Ri has dedicated her career to advocacy work. She has presented nationally on rapid testing outside of medical settings and is passionate about addressing service gaps for BIPOC communities, women, justice-involved individuals, and people who use drugs.
As a second-generation American whose family fled genocide as refugees, Ri brings her lived experience and cultural perspective to her work. Having navigated multiple systems as a youth herself, she understands firsthand the challenges many clients face. "I am very proud of who I am and where I come from," Ri shares.
Ri enjoys traveling, gardening, snowboarding, reading, creating art, and finding ways to stay active in the community when she's not working.
